Tony was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2009.

In 1989, Tony became the Head Boy's Golf Coach and continued in that position until 2005.  In 1994, he accepted the position of Head Girl's Golf Coach and continued in that position until after the 1998 season.

As head of the boy's program, Tony led his teams on to win 3 State Championship titles in 1998, 2000 & 2002.  In his 17 seasons as coach, his teams competed at state 15 times.   In 1999, his team finished in second place.  He also coached 6 state medalists and runner-ups.

As head of the girl's program, Tony led his teams on to win 3 consecutive titles in 1994, 1995, & 1996.  In 1997, his team finished in 2nd place and in 1998, they finished in third.

Although winning championships are a big thrill, Tony’s biggest thrill was having the opportunity to coach both of his children on those high school teams.  Kristin was on all three girl’s state championship teams and her 1997 team finished 2nd.  Jay was on his 1st boy’s state championship team and the 2nd place 1998 team.  He has many fond memories of those years with his children.

In 2005, Tony retired from teaching, after 29 years and began to pursue a life-long dream of becoming a PGA Golf Professional.  He is currently in level two of the three level program and is enjoying learning all about the profession.

After retiring from teaching and coaching, he never considered the idea of coaching again until he received a call about beginning a golf program for men and women at AIB in Des Moines.  Tony decided to accept the position and work on developing a quality program for AIB.  He began his job as the Head Men’s & Women’s Golf Coach in the Spring of 2008.
